The scholarship is open for master’s and doctoral degree programs.

IV. Scholarship Benefits

  1. Waiver of tuition fees and on-campus dormitory charges.
  2. Comprehensive medical insurance worth CNY 800/year.
  3. Monthly living allowance (issued after arrival at HIT):
    • Master’s degree: CNY 3,000/month
    • Doctoral degree: CNY 3,500/month

V. Duration of Scholarship

  1. Master’s Programs:
    • Most programs: 3 years
    • Exceptions:
      • 2 years: School of Management, School of Instrumentation Science and Engineering
      • 2.5 years: Faculty of Computing, School of Architecture
  2. Doctoral Programs: 4 years

VI. Eligibility Criteria

Basic Requirements:

  1. Applicants must be physically and mentally fit.
  2. Must be citizens of countries other than China.
  3. Must comply with the laws of China and HIT regulations.
  4. Cannot receive multiple scholarships at the same time.

Additional Requirements:
5. Age and Qualification:

  • Master’s: Bachelor’s degree holders under 35 years old.
  • Doctorate: Master’s degree holders under 40 years old.
  1. Language Proficiency:
    • Chinese-Taught Programs:
      • HSK Level 4 with a score ≥ 210 (valid for 2 years).
      • If the previous degree was in Chinese, a certificate from the institution suffices.
      • No English proficiency required.
    • English-Taught Programs:
      • TOEFL ≥ 80 or IELTS ≥ 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in each section).
      • If the previous degree was in English, a certificate from the institution suffices.
      • No Chinese proficiency required.
  2. Evidence of achievements (academic, sports, arts, or public service) is optional but recommended.

VII. Required Documents

Documents not in English or Chinese must be notarized.

  1. CSC Scholarship Application Form (link).
  2. Passport bio page.
  3. Highest degree certificate (expected certificates are acceptable but must submit the original upon registration).
  4. Academic transcripts from undergraduate onwards.
  5. Language proficiency certificate.
  6. Study plan (at least 1,500 words) following HIT’s format.
  7. Two recommendation letters from professors/associate professors detailing study goals, skills, and future potential.
  8. Physical Examination Record for Foreigners (completed within six months).
  9. Application fee receipt (USD 60 or CNY 400).
  10. Non-criminal record certificate issued within six months.
  11. Acceptance letter (optional but encouraged).

VIII. Application Process

Step 1: Complete the CSC application online at http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/.
Step 2: Pay the non-refundable application fee of USD 60 or CNY 400.

Important: Check your email frequently for updates, but delays may occur due to high volumes of applications.

IX. Key Notes

  1. HIT may adjust majors or study duration based on your background and study plan.
  2. Changes to professors, fields of study, or program details after registration are not allowed.
